I've been sitting out on the verandah every morning watching the amazing variety of birds that visit the water and seed we're putting out. I recognise a few of them, but there's a surprising number I'm unfamiliar with. We had to look up the olive-backed oriole, noisy friarbird and spiny cheeked honeyeater I've shown here, for instance.
So I've decided to start a project to photograph and identify the birds here. Anthony loves watching the antics of the apostle birds (they always come in a crowd of a dozen that are always in each other's business). He has enthusiastically joined me in my quest to hunt down the names of birds we're hearing and seeing.
I now have a Queensland driver's licence - so I'm officially a Queenslander now!
