About the Materials

I work primarily in 3 metals: silver, rolled gold and copper. The silver is usually sterling, although I have been experimenting with a lower tarnish version that is still sterling grade - they've just replaced most of the copper that's used in sterling with another metal, such as germanium. On rare occasions I'll use fine silver, but it's often too soft for the ring sizes I use.

Rolled gold (also called gold fill or 14K20) is a sturdy layer of 14K gold over a base metal core. It is much thicker and more robust than gold plate: I've been wearing a bracelet made of this continuously for nearly 10 years and you simply can't see any wear. It looks just like normal gold, but at a fraction of the price.

Normally my copper is enamelled - either clear or coloured - but I can do naked copper for those who believe in its benefits against arthritis. Enamel can be scratched off so care is required for bracelets.

Other materials: I have some coloured niobium (a good anti-allergenic metal), steel and titanium (a more robust, industrial look) which can be used if you prefer.

How much I charge

This depends on the type of material and how much is used in the item (its complexity, components and length). Each category includes a guide to prices.
