Cardiff woes

Our Great British Adventure

April 23, 2018

Anthony had a terrible night - he was red hot and tossing and turning. When he went to have a reviving shower he discovered the cold water didn't work, which made it unusable after about 5 seconds. The lodge manager did come around and fix the heating mid-morning, but the shower issue was never resolved, nor was an alternative offer made. I was very unhappy about it all and let them know that. Very disappointing.

We wandered into town to get a few groceries and I forgot to take my camera with me. Naturally that meant the Taff River was full of white swans. One of our goals had been to wander Dr Who sites (the Dr Who Experience had sadly closed last September) but Anthony just wanted to hibernate until he felt better. I headed back into Cardiff on my own to roam the castle and the Norman keep in its grounds.

The falconer here had over half a dozen birds to keep the pigeons and vermin down, but he didn't want to chat so I wandered into the castle proper for a look. I hadn't realised it was still a "working" castle, hosting dignatories at events. It was very... ornate.
