Carnoustie and Drumnadrochit

Our Great British Adventure

May 3, 2018

It was time to leave St Andrews and head back to central Scotland, but we couldn't leave without a detour through Dundee to the Carnoustie golf course that's hosting this year's Open. The wind was bitterly, horrendously cold so we didn't linger too long there but the grandstands were already being constructed which was interesting to see before we scuttled back to the warmth of our car.

We then headed towards Inverness. There's a very high bridge there which was flashing cautions because of the high wind. Our turn off came before it, but I mischievously suggested we could detour over it but Anthony declined. We then had a scenic drive down along one side of Loch Ness to the village of Drumnadrochit, only 15 miles or so away.

Our cottage was up a very steep single lane track full of walkers. We gained about 300m altitude but had no view of the loch. It was quite a cozy cottage and we indulged in a wood fire that night.
